Navigate in your course to where you would like to add the assignment and click on the purple plus and select Content Market from the menu that opens.

The page that loads will have many tiles with various Learning Tool Integrations (LTIs).  They are in alphabetical order, scroll down the page until you reach TurnIt-In.

Once you click that link, TurnIt-In will load and you can build the assignment as you have in the past.  When you have the settings how you want them, close that tab, and refresh your Blackboard tab to confirm the link has been added.

• General Settings
  • Give the assignment a title.
  • Set the Maximum Grade/Point Value.
  • Set the Start Date: When students can begin submitting.
  • Set the Due Date: The deadline for student submissions.
  • Set the Feedback Release Date: When grades and feedback become available to students.
• Optional Settings
  • Submission settings: Decide where to store the paper (e.g., standard paper repository) and whether to allow late submissions.
  • Similarity Report: Choose when similarity reports are generated (e.g., immediately or on the due date) and if students can view them.
  • Compare Against: Select the types of sources for comparison (e.g., student papers, internet, journals, etc.).
  • Exclude Options: You can choose to exclude bibliography, quoted material, or small matches from the similarity report.

Gradebook

To ensure that the grades are included in your overall course grade, you will edit the assignment and assign a category. 

Begin by clicking on the three dots to expand the additional menu on the assignment you just created.  Then select Edit.

A menu will pop up on the righthand side of the page, you will click on Grade Category and choose one of the categories from the list then click Save.

Manage and create new categories from within any menu in the Gradebook by clicking on the gear wheel  menu on the righthand side of the page. 

Select Add New Category and then follow the steps above to edit the TurnItIn assignment to apply to the new category
 

Navigate in your course to where you would like to add the assignment and click on the purple plus and select Create from the menu that opens.

On the Create Item menu that opens, select Assignment.

Give your Assignment a name, provide instructions, and click on the gear wheel to adjust the Assignment Settings.

Once you set the due date, assign points, and adjust other settings (including building a rubric in Blackboard to link to the assignment), scroll to the bottom of the menu where you will see the heading “Originality Report” with an option to click on Enable Turnitin Bb Assignment.

The screen that opens next will have a toggle to Enable Turnitin Bb Assignment.

When you select the toggle, the black circle with the white X will become a green circle with a white check mark and you will be able to adjust the TurnIt-In settings. 

Once you have those settings adjusted to your liking, click Save and then Save again to complete editing your Assignment settings.

Gradebook

When grading student submissions you will see a pill in the righthand corner above the student submission that you can click on to view the full TurnIt-In analysis as you can when using the TurnIt-In LTI.  All feedback should be provided in Blackboard Ultra using the feedback tools built into Ultra.

Clicking on the plagiarism report pill will load the plagiarism report, which looks slightly different than when using the LTI.  You will still see the overall plagiarism score and the AI score across the top of the screen rather than down the righthand side.

The potentially plagiarized text is still underlined and color coded, but it is now broken down into several categories.
