How do I connect to Northwood WiFi or dorm Ethernet?

⚠️

Important: Private Address / MAC Randomization must be turned OFF! If it is enabled, your device will not maintain connectivity and may require repeated registration.

▸ Student, Staff or Faculty
▸ Computer, Tablet or Cell Phone
  1. Turn off MAC Randomization/Private Address
  2. Connect to northwood WiFi
  3. Open a web browser
    • If you aren't automatically redirected, go to wifi.northwood.edu
  4. Select Students, Faculty, and Staff
  5. Sign in with your Northwood username and password
  6. Click Register My Device
    • Wait for the countdown to finish
  7. Close the browser and try loading a webpage
▸ Gaming Console, Smart TV or Other Devices
  1. Turn off MAC Randomization/Private Address
  2. Connect the device to northwood WiFi
  3. On a previously registered computer, tablet, or phone, go to wifi.northwood.edu
  4. Select Register a Smart Home Device or TV
  5. Sign in with your Northwood username and password
  6. Enter the device's MAC address and select the device type
  7. Click Register
    • Wait 5 minutes for the device to connect

Some smart home, streaming, and entertainment devices do not support the type of WiFi network used by Northwood (WPA2-Enterprise). Google Home, Nest, and Chromecast are not supported, along with other devices that require a standard home WiFi network. Before purchasing or connecting a device, check the manufacturer's specifications to confirm it supports WPA2-Enterprise WiFi.

▸ Connect a Device Using an Ethernet Cable

  1. Connect your device to one of the two green-labeled Ethernet ports below the wireless access point. Do not use the blue or red ports; they are not active
  • Computers, smart TVs, and other devices: Follow the Gaming Console, Smart TV or Other Devices registration steps above
  • Gaming consoles: Registration is automatic. Do not disconnect your console. Internet access should be available within 5–10 minutes

  1. Connect your device to the green-labeled Ethernet port in your room
  • Computers, smart TVs, and other devices: Follow the Gaming Console, Smart TV or Other Devices registration steps above

▸ On Campus Visitor or NADA Guest

Visitors and NADA hotel guests can access Northwood WiFi for 60 hours. For longer stays, you must register again after access expires.

  1. Turn off MAC Randomization/Private Address
  2. Connect to northwood WiFi
  3. If you're not redirected, go to wifi.northwood.edu
  4. Select Guests and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy
    • Wait for the countdown to finish
  5. Close the browser and try loading a webpage
