Here are the necessary steps for an instructor to record student attendance:
- Click the Self Service link on the Blackboard Institutional page. Located under common links.
- Once logged in to Self Service click the Faculty menu.
- Next click the link for the course section you wish to take attendance.
- On the Section Details site in Self-Service, scroll down on the page and click the tab for Attendance.
- Click on the Select Date drop-down list on the right side, and choose the desired date.
- Click the drop-down arrow in the Select Attendance field, and choose the appropriate attendance type for each student. Optional: Click the Update All drop-down list above the roster and select “Update Records to Present.” Then adjust individual attendance fields for anyone that shouldn't be marked "Present."
- Attendance submissions are automatically saved, uploaded, and recorded. No additional submission steps are required.
*Online Attendance: Use the last day of each week (Sunday) to report attendance. Students who have not submitted any assignments or engaged in any content-related activity should be reported as absent. Please also use the Retention Alert to report any student who is not engaging.
