Add (map) a missing S: Drive
Windows Computer
Make sure you are on-campus and connected to the admin network
If you are off-campus, you must connect to the admin network using
VPN
Press the
Windows key
(
)
+ E
key
on your keyboard to open File Explorer
Right-click
This PC
in the left column
Click
Map Network Drive
If you don't see Map Network Drive,
Show more Options > Map Network Drive
In the
Drive
list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do)
In the
Folder
box, type the path of the folder or computer
Share drives are typically in the form of
\\miadmin\sharedrivename$
(Replace this with the share drive you were provided)
File path must be typed exactly as it was provided to you
Use the backslash key ( \ ) found above the enter key
Make sure to click the
Reconnect at sign-in
check box if you wish to
connect every time you log on to your PC
Click
Finish
If you have more than one department share drive, repeat the above steps and choose an empty drive letter
If this is a newly created share drive or you get an error message when mapping, you will have to log out and log back in and repeat the steps
If you can't connect to a network drive or folder, you may not have the correct permissions. Contact your supervisor so they can request access on your behalf
Mac Computer

username

(Replace the username with your username)
Select
Connect
Go to
System Preferences
Choose
Users & Groups
Select your account on the left-hand panel
Choose
Login Items
Select the
+
sign to add an item
Under the shared panel choose
miadmin
Click on your share drive name (username$)
Select
Add
Your share drive will now appear in the login items list and be automatically connected after logout/shutdown
