How long will my Northwood University account and/or Alumni email remain active?

Current student accounts and my.northwood access will remain active until graduation or for up to 24 months after the last date of attendance.

After graduation, Northwood University provides an Outlook email-only account for alumni. To remain active, the account requires a password update every 6 months. Reminders are sent 30, 14, and 7-1 days before expiration. If the password is not updated, the account and all associated emails will be removed. Access to Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams ends at the time of graduation.

Transcripts and course history are no longer viewable through alumni accounts. To request a transcript, visit my.northwood.edu and select “Request a Transcript.” Alumni who no longer have an account may visit the Alumni Email page to register for a new Northwood email account.

Student email accounts and my.northwood access remain active for up to 24 months after the last date of attendance. This allows up to two academic years of non-enrollment without deactivating the account. After 24 months, online accounts are permanently purged unless the student re-enrolls. All emails and files are then permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Employee email accounts and my.northwood access are disabled upon separation--and will be permanently closed. If the former employee is Northwood Alumni and wishes to retain a NU email account, they must visit the Alumni Email page to request a brand new Northwood email account.

This benefit and process may be subject to re-evaluation, modification and termination by the University, in its sole discretion, in the future.
