How do I add a network printer?

Windows 10 Computer

  1. Locate the name of the printer you wish to add. (Most printers have the name labeled on the front of the printer. If you do not see a label with the printers name ask a coworker the name of the printer.)
  2. Click the Start/Windows  button
  3. In the "Type here to search" box type in \\miadmin\
  4. Hit Enter
  5. Double click the name of the desired printer
  6. Allow 1-2 minutes for the drivers to install  *If you get an error message, go to step 7

*Most Xerox machines require an Accounting ID/User ID copy code--to obtain this code please contact the Business Office.

Add Network Printer

 

  1. Click the Start/Windows  button
  2. Type in Control Panel and click on it
  3.  Under Hardware and Sound, click on View Devices and Printers 
  4. Single Click on any printer listed under Printers 
  5. Click on Print Server Properties above Devices 
  6. Click on the Drivers tab
  7. Under Installed printer drivers, click on the printer model (located on printer ex. HP Color Laserjet 100) you are trying to map
  8. Click Remove
  9. Click Remove driver and driver package 
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Yes on pop up message 
  12. Click Delete
  13. Click OK even if an error message pops up
  14. Go back to step 1 and map printer/xerox

Windows 7 Computer

  1. Locate the name of the printer you wish to add. (Most printers have the name labeled on the front of the printer. If you do not see a label with the printers name ask a coworker the name of the printer.)
  2. Click the Start/Windows  button
  3. Select Run
  4. In the Run dialog box type in \\miadmin\
  5. Double click the name of the desired printer
  6. Allow 1-2 minutes for the drivers to install
