How do I toggle Twinning on my Mitel office phone to my cell phone?

Twinning allows incoming calls to your Mitel desk phone extension to ring simultaneously with your mobile phone allowing an employee to answer a call on whichever phone works best for them. With Twinning turned on, a user can make phone calls from the MiCollab client which uses your cell phone to make the call while displaying the caller ID from your work number instead of your cell number.

NOTE: Twinning uses cell service, not data or WiFi

STEP 1 for First Time Users: How do I create a status in MiCollab to use twinning?

You MUST contact HR who will send IT the approval to set you up for twinning. The directions below will NOT work until you've been approved for this feature by HR/IT.

Once IT sends you an email saying that you've been approved, open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc)
Go to https://micollab.northwood.edu/ucs/micollab/
Click Accept
Sign in using your Northwood username and password
Click Settings
Click Manage Status
Click the vertical stacked three dots (top right of the screen

Click New
Enter the desired Name (i.e. Working from Home, Telecommuting, etc)
Under the Call Using section use the drop-down to choose Mobile (if mobile is not listed please contact HR)
Under Send my calls to, select My Ring Group:
- Uncheck the box to the right of DeskPhone so that your desk phone won’t ring
- Check the box to the right of Mobile so your cell phone will ring
Click Done

STEP 2 for First Time Users: How do I turn twinning on?

Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc)
Go to https://micollab.northwood.edu/ucs/micollab/
In the upper right corner, click on Your Name
Select the status that you created from STEP 1 above

How do I receive a call?

Incoming calls to your Mitel desk phone extension will ring simultaneously with your mobile phone.

You will see the incoming number display on your mobile device
Simply answer your cell as normal

NOTE: If you are another phone call, decline a call, or if your cell phone is off when a call is received you will get a voicemail message on your cell phone. If you let the phone ring until voicemail picks up, you will get a voicemail message to your Mitel phone and Northwood email.

How do I make a call?

Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc)
Go to https://micollab.northwood.edu/ucs/micollab/
In the Search or Dial box enter the person’s name (for internal or saved contacts only), 4 digit extension or a 10 digit phone number (do not include a 9 prefix)
Hover over the appropriate match and click the phone icon to make the call
Dialing... will be display
Your cell phone will receive a call from your work number, you must answer
After answering your cell phone, the number you entered in the Search or Dial box will be called and will show as coming from your work number instead of your cell number

How do I update/change my twinning phone number?

Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc)
Go to https://micollab.northwood.edu/ucs/micollab/
Sign in using your Northwood username and password
Update your cell phone number in the External Hot Desk Number field
Select Save at the top

How do I turn twinning off?

Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc)
Go to https://micollab.northwood.edu/
Sign in using your Northwood username and password
Remove your cell phone next to External Hot Desk Number:
Select Save at the top
